The 20th annual French Creek Cleanup, another huge success!

September 8th, 2012

The 20th annual French Creek Cleanup brought over 500 volunteers to The French Creek Watershed, despite driving rain and cold temperatures throughout the morning. A total of 23,500 pounds of tires, shopping carts, and other miscellaneous junk was removed from the Creek!

Meadville Middle School was this year’s big winner, earning $1,000 for having the most participants from an educational institution. The money will be used to supplement their science program. French Creek Community Theater took home the $500 prize for most participants from a civic group and the Ainsworth corporate team won the traveling hellbender award by pulling out almost 5,000 pounds of junk from the creek. Volunteers cleaned from Union City Dam all the way to Franklin and everyone seemed to have a great time competing and enjoying the beauty of French Creek. A fantastic picnic was held at Sprague Farm and Brew Works with live music, food, and prizes.

We truly appreciate your continuous support and sincerely look forward to hosting our 21stannual French Creek Cleanup on September 7th, 2013!
